Chandan Yatra

Also known as Gandhalepana Yatra, it is the longest festival of Orissa which is celebrated at Jagannath temple at Puri. The 42-day long festival is celebrated by worshiping the deities with sandal mixed water. The deities are taken out of the temple for a holy patron in water in the traditional boats called ‘ Chapa’. The boats are beautifully decorated generally in red and white colour to give the resemblance of a swan floating in the water. The conclusion of the pompous festival is marked at the Vishnu or Shiva temples in Puri. Thousand of pilgrimages gather to take part in the celebration of this great festival of Orrisa.

Lingaraj temple

  Lingaraj temple was built in the 11 th century AD. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is also known as the “The largest temple of Bhubaneswar”. The Somvanshi King Yayati II built the Lingaraja temple. This temple is built from the Redstone. Lingaraja temple is a classic example of architecture in the Kalinga style. The temple complex has 150 shrines. Lingaraj is also known as “Swayambhu” , which means self-originated Shivling. How to Reach: The nearest bus stop is the Bermuda bus stand in Bhubaneswar, from where you can board a private or local bus. The nearest railway station is Bhubaneswar railway station which is approximately 6 km from the temple. ଅଁଳା ନବମୀ

  କାର୍ତିକ ମାସରେ ଅଁଳା ନବମୀ ପାଳନ କରାଯାଏ । ଏମିତି ମାନ୍ୟତା ଅଛିକି ସେହି ଦିନ ଭଗବାନ ଗୋକୁଳ ଛାଡି ମଥୁରା ଯାଇଥିଲେ । ଏହି ଦିନ ମହିଳାମାନେ ଜଲ୍ଦି ଉଠିକି ଗାଧୋଇ  ସଫା କପଡା ପିନ୍ଧିକି ଅଁଳା ଗଛର ପୂଜା କରିଥାନ୍ତି । ଗଛରେ କ୍ଷୀର ଢାଳି ନାଲି ସୂତାରେ ଅଁଳା ଗଛର ୮ ଥର ନହେଲେ ୧୦୮ ଥର ପରିକ୍ରମା କରନ୍ତି । ସମସ୍ତେ ବସି କଥା ଶୁଣିଥାନ୍ତି ଓ ଗଛ ପାଖରେ ହିଁ ଭୋଜନ କରିଥାନ୍ତି । ଏମିତି କୁହାଯାଏକି ଅଁଳା ନବମୀ ବ୍ରତ ସନ୍ତାନ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତି ଓ ପରିବାରର ସୁଖଶାନ୍ତି ପାଇଁ କରାଯାଇଥାଏ । ଆସନ୍ତୁ ଜାଣିବା ଅଁଳା ନବମୀ ବିଷୟରେ । ଜଣେ ସେଠ ସେଠାଣି ଥିଲେ, ତାଙ୍କର ପାଞ୍ଚ ପୁଅ ଓ ପାଞ୍ଚ ବୋହୁ ଥିଲେ । ସେଠ ସେଠାଣି ବହୁତ ଧାର୍ମିକ ପ୍ରବୃତିର ଥିଲେ, ତାଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଏତେ ସୁନା ଚାନ୍ଦି, ଟଙ୍କା ପଇସା ଥିଲା ।ଧନ ଏତେ ଥିଲାଜେ ତାକୁ ରଖିବା ପାଇଁ ବହୁତ ଚାକର ଥିଲେ ତାକୁ ଗଣିବା ବଦଳରେ ଓଜନ କରି  ରଖୁଥିଲେ ।  ସେଠାଣିର ଗୋଟେ ନିୟମ ଥିଲା ସେ ପ୍ରତିଦିନ ପୂଜା କରି ସୁନାର ଅଁଳା ଦାନ କରୁଥିଲା । ତାପରେ ହିଁ ଭୋଜନ କରୁଥିଲେ । ଏହିଭଳି ସେଠ ସେଠାଣି ଆରମରେ ରହୁଥିଲେ । ଗୋଟେ ଦିନ ସେଠାଣିର ବୋହୁ ଭବିଲା ଯଦି ଶାଶୁ ମା ପ୍ରତିଦିନ ସୁନାର ଅଁଳା ଦାନ ଦେବେ କିଛି ଆଉ  ରହିବନି ଆମ ପାଖରେ । ଆଉ ସବୁ ବୋହୁମାନେ ମିଶିକି ଶାଶୁଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ ସେନା ଅଁଳା ଜାଗାରେ ଗୋଟେ ସାଦା ଅଁଳା ଦା...
